After Sales Service

Although you may have built the best new home possible, problems can still occur. How you deal with these problems, your homeowners and their complaints will go a long way in establishing your reputation as a builder or vendor.

Many of the disputes Tarion deals with are caused by a breakdown in communication between builders and homeowners. You may feel that the homeowner has unrealistic expectations concerning what is acceptable work and how quickly repairs can be completed. On the other hand, homeowners may feel their expectations are reasonable.

Customer Service Standard

To simplify the warranty service process, Tarion recently introduced a new minimum Customer Service Standard for the residential construction industry in Ontario (see Builder Bulletin 42R for more detail). The new policies, procedures and documents are effective for all new freehold homes and condominium units with a date of possession on or after October 1, 2003.
