Registering and Renewing
Image: Registering and Renewing
All builders and vendors must be registered with Tarion in order to build or sell homes and condominiums legally in Ontario. See Getting Registered for details about the registration process.

Registered builders or vendors must submit a renewal application prior to the anniversary date of their registration. Small volume freehold builders or vendors may be eligible to “fast track” the process. See Renewing Your Registration to learn more.
Tarion conducts risk assessments prior to the approval of a builder/vendor's application to determine if any terms and conditions of registration are required. Terms and conditions may include limits on the number of units a builder may build and/or security requirements.

To manage risk appropriately, the Registrar of Tarion may refuse or revoke a builder or vendor’s registration with Tarion for a number of reasons, including a high ratio of chargeable conciliations and/or claims to possessions, failure to provide financial information to Tarion, and/or failure to provide security. See Revocation Notices for a list of builders and vendors whose registration has been recently refused, revoked or suspended.
