According to the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act, the Registrar has the power to refuse a builder or vendor’s application for registration or renewal with Tarion Warranty Corporation, and to suspend or revoke a builder or vendor’s registration to build and sell new homes in Ontario.
The Registrar may choose to take such action for a number of reasons, including a high ratio of chargeable conciliations and/or claims, failure to provide financial information to Tarion, and failure to provide security.
From April 1 to June 30, 2008 Tarion refused, revoked or suspended the registration of the following 28 builders and/or vendors: |

6364144 Canada Inc. had its application for registration refused due to the following: poor commercial credit rating; insufficient equity; failure to pay enrolment fee; failure to provide Personal Net Worth Statements; failure to provide back up documentation for the Personal Net Worth Statements; failure to provide security; failure to execute and return the standard Indemnity Agreement; failure to execute and return the Vendor Agreement; failure to execute and return the Builder Agreement; acting as a Vendor and/or Builder without being registered; failure to enrol. |
