Renewing Your Registration

To maintain registration with Tarion, builders and vendors must submit a completed Application for Renewal annually, 30 days prior to the renewal date.

You will receive notice that it is time to renew your registration with Tarion approximately 60 days prior to the expiry of your current registration.

Note: If your mailing address changes during the year, you must notify Tarion in writing within 15 days of the change to ensure that your renewal form, as well as other information and documentation, is sent to the correct address.

In order to renew your registration with Tarion, the following documents must be submitted:

  • a completed and signed Application for Renewal form;
  • current financial statements and/or personal net worth statements with appropriate supporting documentation;
  • renewal fee of $500.

You must renew your registration if:

  • you still have unsold units in inventory;
  • you are awaiting a Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearing and/or decision;
  • you intend to build and/or sell new homes in the next 12-month period.

If the renewal application form, fee and documents are not received by Tarion before your registration expires, you will be required to pay a further $500 fee, if Tarion allows your renewal to be reinstated.

Cheques should be made payable to "Tarion Warranty Corporation". On average, Tarion will require four to six weeks to process a renewal. Any new conditions of registration will be sent to you in writing.

Completed Applications for Renewal, including all required documents and the renewal fee, should be sent to:

Fast Track Renewal

If you are a freehold builder or vendor having built five or fewer units in each year of your last three registration years and you are in good standing with Tarion, you may be eligible for fast track renewal.

If eligible, you will be sent a Fast Track Renewal form. The signed form, along with the renewal fee of $300 must be submitted to Tarion 30 days prior to the renewal date.

If the Fast Track Renewal application form and fee are not received by Tarion before your registration expires, you will be required to pay a further $500 fee, if Tarion allows your renewal to be reinstated.

Fast Track renewals can often be processed in one day.
