On January 5th and 6th, 2006, the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) held their 18th Annual Building and Renovation Forum at the Hilton Suites Toronto – Markham Conference Centre.

This much-anticipated event is designed to keep Ontario’s builders and renovators up to date on issues, products and trends in the residential construction industry, and it’s the largest gathering of its kind in Canada.

Greg Gee, President and CEO of Tarion, made a presentation at the opening plenary sessions. His remarks, entitled “Meeting Expectations in a New Era of Home Warranty Protection”, provided specific details about the following topics:

• The Changing Market Realities for Tarion
• The Evolution of Tarion as a Services Organization
• Tarion’s Business Plans for 2006

Mike Cote, Vice-President, Builder Relations, spoke in a Breakout Session about the Builder Portal, Tarion’s innovative online service that was launched in November, 2005. Mr. Cote provided builders with a tour of the Builder Portal and outlined the many ways it can help simplify builder administration as well as help improve customer service.

Tarion’s Builder Relations department also hosted a Builder Relations lounge, an area that provided hands-on Portal instruction and the opportunity to discuss industry-related issues with members of the Builder Relations team.
