Acceptable Performance/Condition
Elevator doors shall operate within the manufacturer’s recommended speed ranges and shall not exceed the code limit for maximum allowable kinetic energy. The door closing force necessary to prevent closing of the hoist-way door (or the car door or gate if power operated) from rest shall not exceed 135 N (30 lb.). This force shall be measured on the leading edge of the door with the door at any point between one-third and two-thirds of its travel, and shall also not exceed the maximum allowed code limits.
