In some rare cases, a quote may include an amount for project management fees where the nature of the repair work requires the coordination of multiple trades or is otherwise very complex. A quote may also include an amount for profit and overhead. The contractor preparing the quote will determine whether there is a need to charge project management fees and/or profit and overhead to complete the scope of work. The homeowner can use this amount to hire a project manager to resolve the issue.

In general, project management fees are not part of compensation to homeowners because the vast majority of compensation claims do not involve “projects” which need to be managed.

Tarion will include project management fees and/or profit and overhead in the compensation amount only if an amount for project management fees and/or profit and overhead is in the quote(s) on which the compensation amount is based. In these situations, the amount earmarked for project management would be part of the claim settlement and would count against the warranty compensation limit.  No additional amount for project management fees or profit and overhead will be paid by Tarion beyond what is in the quote(s) prepared for the required scope of work.
