This document provides detailed information on how Tarion assesses Major Structural Defect claims. An MSD is, generally speaking, a defect in work or materials that meets one or more of three tests: failure, function or use. The coverage for MSD claims applies to a “building” and in most cases will focus on defects that relate to a “structural load-bearing element".
