I am pleased to announce the release of the 2025 New Home Ombuds Annual Report.
Role of the New Home Ombuds
The vast majority of homeowners will not need to seek assistance from the Ombuds office. In most cases, concerns about defects are resolved directly with the builder or with support from Tarion. However, there may be instances where Tarion struggles to meet a homeowner’s expectations. In those situations, the New Home Ombuds office may be able to help.
About the Report
The 2025 New Home Ombuds Annual Report provides information about the role and operations of the New Home Ombuds office, which operates independently to ensure Tarion treats homeowners fairly. The report includes information about the office’s core principles, statistics from the issues raised in 2025, as well as stories that demonstrate how our interventions have made a meaningful difference for homeowners navigating Ontario’s new home warranty system.
